- Proficient with C, C++, PIC assembler, and x86 assembler
- Familiar with use of TCP/IP in networking and programming
- During my university studies I have gained some valuable experience in the operation of the TCP/IP network stack and how to communicate between multiple computers using it. This includes implementing a basic daytime server and client using C on Linux. I have also continued development and managed a major project utilising Zero MQ on embedded Linux for transmission of real-time data over TCP connections.
- Experience using and administrating Linux based servers and workstations
- PIn previous positions my responsibilities have included administrating a number of Linux servers to provide a number of services for the company. These servers ran a mixture of Ubuntu, Debian, Centos and Fedora Linux.
- I was also responsible for maintaining the toolchains and build environments used for automated building of the software projects developed by my previous company
- Inside education I have gained experience in administrating and using Linux based systems to develop on and perform general tasks. I also have experience installing, configuring and re-compiling the Linux kernel on an x86 based system through the Slackware distribution.
- Also at university I have successfully installed Linux onto an ARM based controller board, successfully porting Ethernet drivers and kernel configurations over to the new architecture before creating the file system and cross-compiling it for the new architecture.
- Privately I manage a selection VPSs that run TeamSpeak, WHM/cPanel and OpenVPN to provide services to a gaming community I help to run. Although Fedora is my preferred distribution I also have experience using Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS and Slackware based distributions.
